J&R Music is a live music and professional DJ service comprised of Jeff Sawyer and Ron Hurne, two individuals who together create a unique "one-stop shop" for your special event.  With more than 30 years' experience in the music profession you can be assured that you will be getting a top quality professional music service for your perfect event.

Jeff

Pianist, keyboard player and composer Jeff Sawyer has been a staple on the upstate New York music scene for years. He has had numerous recording sessions and appearances as a solo musician as well as a keyboardist for various pop and country acts. Sawyer has seven solo albums to his credit, including his latest release “Journey Home”, which has been received with much critical acclaim.  


Sawyer's past musical endeavors are greatly varied. He has had the pleasure of entertaining well known people such as President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, Frank McCourt, Al Roker, accompanying Golden Globe winner, Brian Dennehy, jazz vocalist Karen Oberlin, Nancy Kelly and many others.


Sawyer has also spent time as musical director and pianist for Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian and American Hawaii Cruise Lines. He has played keyboards for Rocker Todd Hobin, Country sensations Chasen Powell and Ciara Lynn and Nationally recognized Jazz group ESP. Sawyer has been part of bands that have shared the stage with artists Johnny Cash, Toby Keith, Kansas, Trace Adkins, Peter Tork, Survivor, Steppenwolf and many others.

Ron

Ron Hurne is a graduate of the Greatbatch School of Music at Houghton College and also holds a Master of Science degree in Education from SUNY Oswego. He has worked with live sound for over 20 years and got his start in radio in 2001 working for WVOA in Syracuse, NY.  At Houghton College he served as the programming director at WJSL - the college's radio  station.  


As a vocalist, Ron has performed with numerous bands, in musicals, operas, and in 2014 he made a successful appearance singing with the National Sacred Honor Choir at Carnegie Hall.  He also works as a choral director, clinician, and voice teacher where he eagerly brings students into the exciting world of music using a unique combination of educational experience coupled with over nineteen years of personal professional music making.  


In 2012 he began his side passion as a professional DJ playing for parties and weddings while also apprenticing with some of the area's best DJs.
